You aren’t smart enough? You are pretty enough? You don’t have enough money! You will never be able to do that! You just aren’t cut out for this. Have you ever heard such foolishness? I know I have!
I remember it like it was yesterday after it was announced I received a full track scholarship at our family reunion when my cousin said, “I didn’t know people from 8 Mile go to college”. My response through demonstration was yep, sure do, and get Bachelor Degree’s and Master’s Degree, make six figures, start non-profits, operating successful businesses and the list goes on.
If you allow people to talk you out of your dreams and aspirations projecting their own limitations, fears, prejudice and anxiety onto you, you won’t be able to manifest everything promised to you.
That almost happened in my business. In 2013, God gave me the name for our organization Detour Movement Inc. based off Romans 12:1-2 which speaks to be a living sacrifice for God and not conforming to the patterns of this world but being transformed by the renewing of our mind.
I allowed myself to align with so many different coaches most of which did not teach nor understood the spiritual laws that governs success. So they spent a considerable amount of time trying to change me to who they wanted me to be rather than who God called me to be. Can you relate to that, connecting or investing time, money or energy in a relationship that God never intended for you to be in and rather than moving you closer to God or your purpose, they end up moving you further way? That is exactly what happened. I had coaches forcing me into a box and I went as I was confused where I belonged and since I was paying them to coach me I did as I was told. Chose a niche they say. So I choose dating.
Now I have to apologize to you because for the last eight years I thought I was a dating coach helping singles live the life the love and attract the love of their life. I do that, I am good at doing that but it is level to this thing. Over the last 12 months and even more so the last 12 hours I got crystal clear that I was put on this Earth to help millennials and really Xennials (those born in the late 70s and early 80s) manifest everything they desire focusing on three key elements faith, family and fulfillment. I am a Transformational Scientist serving Xennials renew their mind, elevate their life and manifest thriving relationships from their money to their man.
Tip #1 Get clear on what you want.
Back to my story, as a young child 12 years old, I was clear on what I wanted. I wanted to earn a full athletic scholarship and have a chance to be an Olympic athlete. That clarity motivated me to do research and find out how others had done the same thing.
Tip #2 Be Intentional! Find out where it is and How to Get it
So I decided to go school scouting as a seventh grader! I went to three local high schools, R. B. Stall, North Charleston High School and Garett Academy of Technology. Nothing was happening in terms of the track program with Stall or Garett. A good friend of mines at that time, Alisa Smith and I had promised one another we would attend Garett together because everyone was going to get split up based on recent redistricting. Despite that I knew, I had to renege on my promise first for myself if I ever was going to have a chance to earn a full-athletic scholarship. Have you ever faced a decision like that? Wanting to stay with your friends and family but knowing that “everyone who came with you can’t do with you” Steve Harvey. This soon became a trend even after I exited high school and head to college. I didn’t always have the courage to go alone. God set me up with people who made false promises which give me the assurance I need to move on. This came in the form of my ex-boyfriend. I wanted him to go to San Diego with me so bad. I made him promise he would come with me. I am grateful he released me and let me go. I appreciate that he gave me something, that I could give myself at that time, and that was permission. I know it was nothing but God using Him at the time. You may or may not have that same opportunity so you can’t wait for someone else to give you permission, you must give yourself permission to do what ever is in your best interest. If that person is true friend that have your best interest at heart, they will understand.
Tip # 3 Just Do It! And Don’t Quit Even When You Feel Defeated.
One you are clear on what you want, you find out where it is and how to get it! Make a decision to go after it and JUST DO IT! I decided to attend North Charleston High School; I continue to run track each year. I had to make Sacrifice along the way including quitting band after 8th grade, quitting basketball after 10th grade, doing ever block starts and Saturday practice even after my coaches, Curtis Hazelton and Billy Griswould left my senior year. I was devasted and I felt defeated, but I could put all my trusting a coach and beside they had trained me for over five years, now it was myself to master everything they taught me.
As Nike says, just do it. The only limitations you have are the ones you place on yourself. If you think you can, you will; “if you think you can’t, you won’t either way you are right” Henry Ford. It is your choice. “Destiny isn’t a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice. It isn’t a thing to be waited for. It Is something to be achieved.” William Jennings Bryan What decision will you make today to manifest your destiny tomorrow?
