The bible clearly demonstrates that in 1 John 4:7-21 (vs 7: 8 “7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love”). What this scripture tells me is that everyone who loves has been born of God and our very nature should exude love.
How many of you will be bold enough to admit that although you know this, you haven’t always practiced this (even after you gave your life to Christ)? God is the very essence of love and demonstrate throughout scripture, beyond 1 John 4, of how we should love others and ourselves.
I will be the first to admit that I haven’t always loved God, myself, or others in the way that God loves me.
Some would say that loving yourself is a selfish act and you can become self-absorbed in doing so.
As women, we oftentimes fall victim to not loving ourselves. Instead, we dance to the beat of everyone else’s drum. We put our lives, goals, and dreams to the side because we want to please others in making them happy.
As women, we oftentimes forget about ourselves and it isn’t until the kids are in college or out of the house or 20+ years of marriage have gone by that we realized we have neglected Self-love!
As women, we oftentimes think the more we acquire by tangible means that will fill our love tank.
